Seventh & Eighth Grade Service Hours

Dear Parents and Students,

As part of the preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation, all eighth-grade Confirmation candidates are required to complete 30 service hours by March 23, 2027.

  • 15 hours may be completed during 7th grade.
  • The remaining 15 hours must be completed during 8th grade.
  • At least 20 of the 30 hours must be completed serving at Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

All service hours must be recorded on the Service Hour Log. Please complete the entire form before submitting it.

Approved Service Opportunities

Students may earn service hours through opportunities such as:

  • Serving as an altar server at weekend Masses
  • Singing in the choir at weekend Masses
  • Serving as a lector at weekend Masses
  • Volunteering at parish events such as the Bunny Breakfast or Fall Festival
  • Assisting with Vacation Bible School
  • Helping in the nursery during the 4:30 p.m., 9:00 a.m., or 10:45 a.m. Sunday Masses

Bonus Service Hour Opportunities

Students may earn double service hours by:

  • Spending one hour in Eucharistic Adoration
  • Attending the Holy Week liturgies:
    • Holy Thursday
    • Good Friday
    • The Easter Vigil

Vacation Bible School also provides an excellent opportunity to earn service hours during the summer. Dates and volunteer opportunities will be announced once the schedule is finalized.

If you would like to help in the nursery, please email me with the Mass time(s) and date(s) you would like to serve. Because only two student helpers are needed per Mass, nursery assignments will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Additional Opportunities

Additional service opportunities will be shared throughout the year by email and in the parish bulletin.

Students are also encouraged to take initiative by organizing service projects with other families, teachers, or classmates. Projects such as picking up litter around campus, weeding flower beds, or helping beautify the parish grounds are excellent ways to serve.

Our hope is that these service opportunities will do more than fulfill a requirement. They are intended to help our young people grow as disciples by developing a spirit of stewardship, generosity, and active involvement in the life of our parish.
